It’s essential for every driver to have motor vehicle insurance. However, some people believe this isn’t an option for them due to mistakes in their past. Thankfully, that’s not always the case.
Even if you’ve been caught drink-driving, or have been charged with other driving offences, it’s possible you can still get insurance coverage.
Drink driving insurance
Drink driving is a serious offence. If you’ve been charged with this, you may believe that getting your vehicle covered isn’t an option. Think again.
Some insurance companies are prepared to offer you coverage. It is called Drink Driver Insurance and may be available to you. Of course, the premiums will be higher, and there may be some restrictions.
Reducing the cost
It’s possible for you to reduce the price of the premium if you keep your vehicle in a secure location, limit the cover to one driver only and opt for a higher excess.
Remember too, that under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, once five years has passed, and you have no further convictions, you can no longer be penalised for this offence. At this point, you’re eligible for reasonably priced insurance again.
Convicted driver insurance
Mistakes made in the past can follow you forever; this includes driving incidents. Most drivers believe they’ll never get insurance for their motor vehicle; this isn’t always the case.
A form of coverage known as convicted drivers insurance can help. Naturally, if you’re under a ban or a disqualification, it’s unlikely you’ll qualify. However, once these are lifted, your options increase. We can also help you find convicted van insurance or cover on other commercial vehicles.
If you have a lot of points on your licence, have a criminal conviction, or have been banned from driving in the past, then convicted driver insurance might be the solution. Once again the premiums will be higher, but at least you’ll have much-needed coverage.
Don’t give up
At the time drink driving and other offences may seem like the end of the world for you. However, getting your motor vehicle covered despite these may be possible. Drink Driving and Convicted Driver Insurance are legitimate options and well worth investigating.
