The SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders) released figures for the registration of new LCV’s on 4th September 2017 with sales of 57,368 vehicles being registered, this is a full 4.2% down compared with September 2016.
The LCV market saw division in September with the larger vans and pickups staying relatively stable, both these vehicle types saw small rises in sales with pickups showing a nought .4% rise and larger vans a 0.1% rise. The small van market showed a significant decline of 10.7% for vehicles between two and 2 ½ ton and new registrations for vans under 2 tonnes were down significantly at 25.5%.
Chief Executive of SMMT, said “business confidence has taken a hit recently as economic and political uncertainty continues, so fluctuations in purchasing patterns are to be expected. We must remember that the market remains at a historically high level but growth will depend on better economic conditions and business confidence, something government must prioritise.”
